Nuances of Boat Kitchen

Even the best cooks think twice and measure four times when cooking on a boat. It is almost as if you have to learn everything all over again. We have compiled the facts that many seafarers agree on so that you do not have to do so.

SNACK: One of the most practical solutions on board is bread snacks. You can prepare quick snacks with ingredients such as olives, anchovy paste, cheese varieties, anchovies from the sea, allowing you to postpone meals.

SOUP: It's not practical to cook soup on a boat when there are so many quality brands of instant soup available. Unless you have a special recipe like melon soup! In this case, it is recommended that your soup pot and bowls are deep and that the bowls are not more than half full when serving.

APPETIZER: A good solution is to keep canned sardines, tuna and pinto beans, and to store all kinds of pickles in jars. If you have aluminum foil (which you should), you can cook appetizers with bacon and shrimp in a pan in a few minutes. We should also include easy-to-cook olive oil dishes among the appetizers!

OMELETTE: Even someone who doesn't know how to cook can make an omelette to solve the problem of preparing a meal on the boat. In fact, it is always necessary to have eggs on board because they can be stored for at least a month. On the other hand, it is useful to turn the eggs upside down from time to time so that the yolk does not settle to the bottom.

PASTA: You can cook the pasta on the boat with seawater mixed half and half with fresh water. This way you don't need to add salt. Since you are at sea level, you will get good results with any type of pasta with 9-10 minutes of boiling. If you overcook the pasta, immediately put it in cold water so that it does not cook even more in its own steam. Also get accustomed to preparing the pasta sauce in advance.

FISH DISHES: If you can catch fish from the boat, great! As soon as you remove it from the fishing rod, put it in a bucket with ice and wait for the fish to die completely. This will
increase its flavor when you cook it. If you are going to store the fish you catch, be sure to salt it and put it in the refrigerator. Save the fish bones for soup or even snacks.

HOT DISHES: If you are to cook meat on the boat, opt for ready-made cooking sets. This will make your life incredibly easier. Instead of buying whole chicken for chicken dishes, it would make more sense to buy chicken cut into pieces according to the number of people.

DESSERT: Making pastry desserts on the boat is a very ambitious idea. Instead, try simple flavors such as milk and fruit desserts, compotes and fruit salads.

But, above all, never stop trying new things. You may be short of space on the boat, but your imagination doesn't have to be!
