As we say goodbye to summer, the wintering season has arrived. This period, in which we will yearn for the deep blues, also offers us the opportunity to prepare our boat for summer in the best condition. Whether you are pulling your boat ashore or keeping at sea, check the following points while meeting your boat's wintering needs.

For those who leave their boat at sea:

≈ First of all, pay attention to the geographical location and climatic conditions of your region. If your area is prone to severe storms, double-rope the stern lines, if possible get double mooring lines.
≈ If the boat won't be used for a long time, close all the portholes, check the door locks and leaks.
≈ If possible, place a dehumidifier inside the boat, try to renew the receivers once a month.
≈ Check the electrical installation, keep the boat switches in the off position.
≈ Check that your bilge pumps are working properly and are evacuating the water from the side, leave the operating mode of the pump at automatic.
≈ Safely store all materials that can be blown away by the wind, such as tarpaulins, mattresses, and awnings on the boat.
≈ If your boat has sails, tie up sailing gear. Take up the slack of the sail ropes so that they do not become entangled in the mast or elsewhere under the influence of the wind.
≈ If you have an outboard boat, raise the engine tail, cut off contact with the water. If possible, remove it from the boat and move it to a suitable place.
≈ Regardless of the type of your boat, run the engine with pure water and purify it from salt water.

For those pulling their boat ashore:

≈ For work safety, first land your anchor on land.
≈ Remova all materials on the boat so that they are not blown away by the wind.
≈ If the boat is to be covered with a tarpaulin, make sure the tarpaulin ropes are tied tight. Be sure to wrap the tarpaulin ropes around the hull of the boat, never to the struts.
≈ Close all doors, portholes, as in the sea. Put a dehumidifier in the boat, try to replace the dehumidifiers once a month.
≈ Turn off all boat switches of the boat. Remove the battery terminals. If there will be use, keep the batteries charged by connecting the boat to electricity on land.
≈ If the boat engines are to be serviced, drain the engine oil, remove the injectors and add protective oil to the cylinders.

Have a fresh, comfortable and beautiful winter!
