The product of Ali Boratav's 20 years of hard work, "Mavi Yolculuk Rehberi" had excited all sea lovers when it was first published in 2019. The 4th edition of the book, with a new title and a new format, will be in everyone's dreams.
The 4th edition of Mavi Yolculuk Rehberi published by Ege Yayınları has a different format than the previous editions. This massive work is now divided into four volumes and presented in a custom case to make it easier to use, especially on the boat. Furthermore, a header has been added to the guide: Deniz Kitabı (Sea Book).
The volumes of the new edition are organized as follows: Volume 1 is the Introduction and Gulf of Gökova, Volume 2 is Hisarönü and Marmaris Bays, Volume 3 is Fethiye-Göcek Bays and Kalkan-Kekova coasts, and Volume 4 is the Dodecanese region. Comprising a total of 664 pages, the guide has become more comprehensive over time compared to the first edition of 528 pages. Information on coasts and facilities has been updated and 120 new photos have been added.
Featuring 1600 photographs and 310 maps, the guide includes excursion routes from Gökova, Hisarönü, Yeşilova, Marmaris, Göcek-Fethiye Bays and Fethiye to Kekova, the blue coasts of Turkey and Dodecanese in Greek waters. The guide covers 540 bays and stopover points in these seas, the messages and surprises of the sea, natural, historical and cultural heritage, local people, legends and culinary destinations one by one. This makes Mavi Yolculuk Rehberi a one-of-a-kind work.
Boratav, who closely observes the changes and follows the huge area covered by the guide day by day, is of the opinion that the boundaries of the blue voyage have expanded to the north and west in the Aegean and to the east in the Mediterranean. However, he believes that the Gulf of Saros, Bozcaada, Ayvalık-Cunda, Dikili, Foça, Urla, Karaburun, and Çeşme are hardly used nowadays. He therefore predicts that in the coming years it will become a destination for those seeking tranquility and humility on the sea.
There is also an interesting story that inspired the new edition. Veteran sailor Teoman Arsay liked the guide very much but had difficulty using it on the boat because of its size. So, he divided the book into seven parts and bound them separately. He also sent a copy to Ali Boratav. He insisted so much that Boratav had to agree to divide the guide into parts at additional cost.
The truth is, Mavi Yolculuk Rehberi, which came to life after nearly 100 blue voyages and 3-4 years of intensive desk work, received the highest score from us with its new format.
