It’s education time for the real guardians of the ocean: Children

Now is the time for education for children, the true guardians of the ocean

Sailors of the Sea, the educational initiative supported by Oceana, one of the world's leading ocean conservation organizations, to raise environmental awareness, has prepared a special education program for children.

Since 2004, the Sailors of the Sea initiative, which has been pioneering in ocean conservation, has prepared a training program for child sailors following its Green Yachting Guide and Sustainable Activities at Sea certificate. The program, called KELP (Kids Environmental Lesson Plans), instills environmental awareness in future ocean protectors step by step and turns environmental awareness from an intellectual burden into a natural habit with its entertaining content.

With KELP, which consists of a guidebook and a video program on YouTube, it is not difficult to turn sea-savvy children into "ocean champions". Children can sign up for the program, which chooses the "otter" as its mascot, online. At the end of the program, they receive a "certificate of pride" that they download from the internet. They can also choose souvenirs from the online shop and adopt an otter named "Otter the Otter" if they wish.

The KELP video program is approximately 1 hour long and consists of 21 episodes. Throughout the program, children perform original and fun exercises using simple materials. The topics are also very interesting: What do whales see? How can we survive in the tidal zone? What is the 6th sense of sharks? What kind of ice causes ocean waters to rise?

Sailors of the Sea aims to turn ocean awareness into a worldwide conservation network with its organizational structure. This means that the children of the world are uniting for the future of the oceans! If you wish, you can enroll your child or the children around you in KELP and ensure that they have a share in the future of the oceans.
