Founded out of nothing in 1989 by sailors with a passion for sailing, The Bodrum Cup is now one of the regattas that attracts the attention of the world. The Bodrum Cup is a boat show that is more than just an adventure for yachters to take part in with their guests, but also an opportunity for craftsmen and engineers to showcase their work. Above all, it is a manifesto for the protection of the seas and the spread of marine culture.
The Bodrum Cup of 2023 was designed as Thessaloniki-Istanbul-Bodrum for stage 1 and The Bodrum Cup (Gökova) for stage 2. The journey began with a visit to the house where Atatürk was born in Thessaloniki, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. The sailors then turned their route to the Çanakkale Martyrs' Monument, where they stood in silence in honor of all the sailors who have ever sailed.
Hosted by Setur Marinas Kalamış & Fenerbahçe, Setur Marinas Ayvalık, Setur Marinas Kuşadası, a visual feast was presented to the public at The Bodrum Cup with a Sailboat Cortege on the Bosphorus and a Half-mast salute in front of Dolmabahçe Palace. The boats left unforgettable traces in the memories of the audience with their mesmerizing silhouettes. Then the excitement intensified with the Bozcaada-Babakale, Ayvalık-Karaburun, Çeşme-Kuşadası, Kuşadası-Yalıkavak stages.
This year's The Bodrum Cup was further enriched with seminars and talks on "The Fight Against Climate Change and the Journey to Zero Waste", in which Turmepa was also involved. The event was enlivened by concerts of famous artists and reached its peak with an exciting award ceremony. Maritime tradition was celebrated at The Bodrum Cup by hosting many local sailing models in Gulet, Tirhandil and Cruiser styles.
Having launched in 2004 with its "circle of love", The Bodrum Cup once again left its mark on memories and hearts this year with a journey befitting the spirit of the Republic.
