Admiral Cem Gürdeniz's new book, Kültürü ve Görgüsüyle Denizcilik, dedicated to the memory of Sadun Boro, has been published by Yapı Kredi Publications.
Admiral Cem Gürdeniz, who previously wrote pieces like Hedefteki Donanma, Amatör Denizcilikte Acil Durum Seyri, Mavi Uygarlık, Çelik Gemiler Demir Bahriyeliler, Mavi Vatan Yazıları and Sadun Boro Rotasında… Türk Amatör Denizciliğinin 21. Yüzyıl Vizyonu, deals with Turkey's need for maritimeization with its historical, social, cultural, political, military and psychosocial aspects in Kültürü ve Görgüsüyle Denizcilik. Gürdeniz places on the record the etiquette in matters such as customs, traditions, courtesy rules, flag discipline, marina, fender culture, sailors' attitudes and behaviors in the book.
While Rahmi M. Koç museum hosted the promotional event of the book on April 19, sponsored by Setur Marinas, Kısmet sailboat was at the center of the event. Following Cem Gürdeniz's conference titled "Harmony at Sea" in which he explained with examples that manners at sea are necessary for a peaceful and happy sea environment, String Quintet from Istanbul Philharmonic Society took the stage and played G. F. Handel's Water Music. Deniz Kısmet Polat, the daughter of Sadun Boro, to whom the book was dedicated, also gave a speech at the event and shared her experiences from her navigation of the Atlantic Ocean.
